Research Meeting Visiting Speaker: Renisa Mawani
This Research Meeting features a presentation by Renisa Mawani. Dr. Mawani is a Professor and Canada Research Chair in Colonial Legal Histories in the Department of Sociology at the University of British Columbia. Her research interests include Law and Society, Oceans and Maritime Worlds, and Settler Colonialism and Migration. She has authored Colonial Proximities (2009) and Across Oceans of Law (2018), and she is currently working on a book project, Enemies of Empire: Commerce and Confinement in Colonial India, Burma, and Siam, 1914-1920. She has many other research contributions in the form of edited volumes and articles.
